Mamrelund Lutheran, Pennock MN

About Our Community

Mamrelund, along with 5 other Churches, belong to the ACT Parish. Our purpose is to receive and to share the Light and Love of our Savior Jesus Christ.
The ACT Parish shares Pastor Jennifer Thul, and Pastor Daryl Thul and Lay Minister Nancy Carlson. Combined, they have brought a newness, music talent, and the calling to lead us as people of God.

We at Mamrelund have a beautiful Church right in Pennock with generations of amazing families. We offer a Church library stocked with many books, old and new, for anyone to check out by our amazing librarian Donna.
Sunday services are held at 10:00 followed with coffee and fellowship. We hold Worship at ‘Old Mamre’ just north of Pennock regularly - especially in the summer.
We also have Christmas Eve candlelight services  at 'Old
Mamre' singing Christmas carols to music played by Arnnette Wallentine on the sanctuary's original pump organ.
Bible study is offered for women at 4:30PM the third Wednesday of every other month. Men are encouraged to attend the men’s Bible study at Sheries Cafe in Kerkhoven on Saturday mornings.
Our confirmation classes are held in connection with the entire ACT Parish and are very well organized by our pastors.
> We are in the process of developing an intergenerational Sunday School and look forward to seeing where the Holy Spirit takes us in this effort.
The congregation is heavily involved in Pennock Fun Days include homemade doughnuts, pies and ice cream floats along with coffee and lemonade.

What's in a name?
Part I

Living in Minnesota, we have plenty of Scandinavian, German and Native American words used as names. Mankato is actually Mah-Kahto and means Blue Earth.
So most of us don't give a second thought to the name Mamrelund, which, by the way, is not a European or North American name.
It is a Hebrew name, invoking the Oak of Mamre, under which Abram and Sarai received the three visitors who told them that when they returned in a year's time, the couple would have a baby.
It is also the spot where God doubled-down on His promise to Abram to make him the Father of a Great nation - and more importantly, to redeem the world through his line.
Old Mamre is surrounded by oaks and walking into the old wooden sanctuary is a gift that has been given to us today by those who settled on farms in the area and wanted to share the message of Jesus Christ.

We are excited to share that Conlan's Dairy Cow took the top prize at both the Kandiyohi County Fair and the State Fair.  The Carlson Family has been in the Dairy business for generations and are active members of Mamrelund.
To God be the Glory!
